2013 Lexus LS Will Debut July 30

Lexus has announced that the redesigned 2013 Lexus LS is headed our way. Few details about the new LS have been revealed, but Lexus reports that the new flagship sedan will be available in LS 460, long-wheelbase LS 460 L and LS 600h L trims, just like the 2012 Lexus LS and LS Hybrid.

A new LS 460 F Sport model will also be added to the lineup. Motor Trend expects “the new F Sport to mimic other F Sport variants Lexus has recently introduced (notably on the GS and RX lines) with a mesh spindle grille insert, blacked-out trim details, and sportier suspension tuning.”

Pricing and full specifications haven’t been announced, but Car and Driver thinks the existing powertrains will carry over to the new models. The 2012 Lexus LS and LS Hybrid start at $67,630 and $112,750, respectively.

The current Lexus LS debuted for the 2007 model year, and some journalists think that its 2013 redesign will make the LS more competitive with super luxury cars that are also getting redesigned. Cars.com writes, “With the 7 Series undergoing a refresh for 2013 and a new fifth-generation S-Class expected later next year, an update for the Lexus LS is well-timed.”

A live webcast of the 2013 Lexus LS’ debut can be seen on Lexus.com and facebook.com/lexus at 8:30 p.m. PDT on July 30.
